HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!!! Yes, that’s a real thing thanks to our friends in the US of A. Back in 1984, Ronald Reagan proclaimed the 3rd Sunday of July National Ice Cream Day as ice cream was a traditionally American thing. Well, I don’t know about that but I’m definitely not complaining!
So in celebrations (as if there was ever an excuse needed), I headed to Snowflake Gelato in Selfridges. There was some general buzz a month or so ago when Snowflake released their ice cream afternoon tea and I have been wanting to go ever since.
So I headed to Selfridges and had a nice little table reserved for me. Snowflake is located in a small corner of the Food Hall, it was a small place but I was given the cutest table there with a background apt for any foody to love…
The afternoon tea arrived and needless to say I felt the brainfreeze just looking at everything…

Ice Rasberry Macaroon and Sea Salted Canaloni

Praline minicone

Blackforest Sandwich

Amaretto Canaloni

Rectangular Fior di Latte Cookie
As if all that ice cream wasn’t enough, I had one of the most delicious milkshakes I have tasted… White chocolate with pistacio gelato!
It was a lot of ice cream but in between the brain freezes, my favourite of the lot had to be the Latte cookie – the cookie was not too crunchie so was easy enough to eat, yet the coffee taste came through perfectly.
Overall, I have to say it was a really good experience. It felt as though it was genuinely too much ice cream (as if there was anything of the kind) and to justify this absurd statement, it was more because evwrything was melting at the same pace so I had to eat it all in one go before it was all gone! For £15pp I felt as though this was the perfect treat to rest those tired feet and credit cards after a hard day’s work of shopping around.
So, guys, Ice Cream Day or not this is definitely one to check off the list! Would have loved it even more had it been in a more relaxed surrounding but nevertheless it was great. And the service is what made it all the better! To top it off, they also serve pancakes and waffles if you make it in time for breakfast or brunch! Winner!
