Caramel Restaurant and Lounge, South Kensington

I am a total advocate for the London food scene, but the last few months on the food scene have been a little disappointing if I’m honest, either the food wasn’t great or the service was off, it just wasn’t fun. But the Lord works his magic in mysterious ways. Just when I was about to give up all hope, I visited Caramel, a Dubai based restaurant that’s newly opened in South Kensington about 5 mins from the station.

I remember visiting Caramel in Dubai a few years ago but everything in Dubai tastes better, so I was ready for it to be disappointing in comparison (keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed). But the world had other plans for me that day!

My friend and I visited Caramel for brunch on a Saturday. It was a beautiful sunny day and I hadn’t seen my friend for a while so was lovely. The restaurant was slightly empty at this point as it was pretty early for a Saturday (early by my standards – midday isn’t really early though)

We got one of their booths, the decor is so striking and beautiful – black marble, sharp lines, basically what my house would look like if I had one!

We got a bit excited by the menu and basically ordered a lot more than we should have.

I have to say, I thought that the TNT Shrimps would be a copycat version of the Dynamite Shrimps at PF Chang, but I cannot express how excited I was when that first mouthful awoke my taste buds, it was much much better than the Dynamite shrimps at PF, the shrimps were crunchy and tasted amazing! If you were to go just for this, do it!

Highlight of the whole meal would have to be the wagyu sliders though, I didn’t realise everything was halal until I got to the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Moreover, sliders I’m not ashamed to say at all are the perfect sized burger for me as mostly normal burgers are too big and heavy for me. The meat on this slider was enough for a whole burger, it was succulent, juicy and sooo tender.. my mouth genuinely is salivating just thinking about it again

We also ordered some breakfast items, the french toast was great, although probably needed a bit more flavouring but was so tender and soft.

Overall, Caramel has definitely restored my faith in the London food scene. The service was great, the food was even better, the restaurant is beautiful so I can’t really fault it. If I could recommend any restaurant this month – this would be it!
